For our game and media creation processes module I was tasked with creating a mobile game in a team for our first teaching block of my final year. The project is set to be published on the google play store for free. The game is expected to have around 10 levels or 15 minutes of polished game play.

Game overview
To start the project off my team brainstormed what type of game our project should be and what the theme should be and after some time we decided on a match 3 game with a mining aesthetic.
The game will involve matching 3 or more of the same ore/gem stone in a grid to complete different completion goals. The game will start off easy with a small grid and less objects then get progressively harder but adding more objects and different grid shapes. The different objects that are considered to be in the game are gonna be gold, silver, bronze ores, diamonds, ruby, emeralds and sapphires. In addition there are going to be blockers on the grid like boulders, mine cart tracks to add challenge to the levels.
Power ups are going to be added to the game as well to spice up the game play; these include dynamite bombs to clear an area and pickaxes to remove specific objects to create better opportunities for matches in the game.
Game Aesthetics
Since the game has a mining look to it the UI of the game is themed around caves and mining. Below is a picture of a rough concept of the UI in the game. The border surrounding the game is a mine shaft that shows the goals to complete the level, turns to complete the goals in, score for tracking progress and power ups selecting menu. The background is dirt to represent a cave/tunnel where your mining and the main part of the screen is stone where the player will be matching different ores and gemstones.

Current progress
The current progress for the game is currently building the basic match 3 mechanics in unity with temporary art to represent the objects(Shown below). For my own personal contribution I am making the art for the game like the ores and gemstones. The art style is going to be pixel art as it is a nice looking and simple art style for the game.
