Min3r (Mobile game)

Min3r is a match 3 mobile game for Android devices that tasks the player to match 3 or more ores and gems to complete each levels tasks within a move limit. There are 9 levels to play through that get harder to complete and feature larger grids and more tasks to complete. There are different power ups that can be used to help the player complete the tasks.

This project was a group project created during my final year of university. For my contribution to the project I created the concept of the game and was the one to draw most of the assets used for the game which include the main menu, ores and gemstones and the power up icons.

This page contains a google play store link to download the game, a video overview of the game, some concept/temporary art for the game and screenshots of the game.

The group members that helped create this game include: Jaspreet Basra, Pratik Parmar and Kristian Hammond. The Youtube video was created by Jaspreet and the game was published on Pratik's account.

Concept sketch of the UI
Since the game was going to be a match 3 game with a mining aesthetic it felt natural that the UI would look like a mineshaft with the wooden beams surrounding the grid and having the grid look like a wall with ores and gems in it.

Spritesheet for the different gems and ores
As seen from the small notes I wrote, the top row features old designs for the ores and gems that I decided to scrap as they didn't look nice and too similar to Minecraft's ores. So the second row features all the final designs for the ores and gems that I drew.
The bomb and dynamite powerups are used in game yet the arrow icons that were drawn did not make it into the game but would have allowed the player to move and swap different ores and gems positions.
